Wilderness and Austere Rescue Medicine is a course developed and presented by Jeff Chamberlain MD and David Henderson MD. They have been teaching Wilderness Medicine since 2019 in various environments and through different course accreditations. When they outlasted their most recent course vendor they realized it was time to take the next step in their teaching career by developing their own curriculum but still in line with the clinical practice guidelines from the Wilderness Medicine Society.
CME will start being offered in Spring or 2027 with the expectations that attending physicians will earn 24.5 CME, Category 1 AMA PRA, Category 1 CME through the ACCME
This is a hybrid course: included primary education through online video lectures, referenced guidelines and quizzes in readings and test comprehension. These modules should be completed prior to the weekend practical session. Our practical sessions over the course of the weekend are then focused on reaffirming knowledge while maximizing our time with hands-on skill acquisition and practice.
